Overall: 4.75 out of 5, sweet malt and pepper yeast aroma.
Category: Saison (Holiday)
Appearance: Hazy bright golden color, persistent off-white head
Aroma: Sweet Bread Dough, white pepper, almond
Mouthfeel: Medium Full, effervescent carbonation
Flavors: Blends of cracked pepper and sweet bread dough, finishes dry with a sharp carbonic bite. You cannot pick up the 9.5% ABV. For anyone who doesn’t want a winter ale’s spice profile, this beer is your winter jam! There are some serious complex bready notes.
Aftertaste: Perfect blend of bitterness, carbonation, finishing dry with a sudden stop makes for a unique aftertaste.
Food Pairing: I think this beer would be fun to pair with a sweet bready dessert, especially if vanilla and almonds are used. The carbonation and bitterness would balance out the sweetness of the dessert, brining other flavors into the forefront.
I encourage you to visit the Brasserie Dupont website to see what other amazing offerings they produce. This is hands down the best Saison producer in the world.
